Day 3 of my #40to40. Today’s #negotiation tip is a build on yesterday. Consider the other party’s perspective and if you’re not getting anywhere push them to get some perspective by asking “what CAN you do for me” or “how can you help me?” Take some of the pressure off of yourself and put the onus on them to come up with a solution. You’ll notice this question isn’t a yes/no. It’s more qualitative to push them to engage in problem-solving.
If you get nervous this is a good way to turn the tables and get them to start the brainstorming!
