Day 17 of #40to40 is about #negotiation defend and attack spirals.
When people are stressed they tend to lash out and either defend themselves or start attacking the other party. The temptation is to mirror them and do the same. That’s what happens when all of that rational thought leaves your brain in the heat of the moment. It’s the easiest response.
Instead, try to #pause and ask yourself “what do I need to do to get the best possible outcome?” Just because they’re being a hothead doesn’t mean you need to be one too.
